Dada Krsnasevananda

Dada Krsnasevananda has been a monk and meditation teacher of Ananda Marga for forty years. He was born in Canada but spent the majority of his youth in Japan and Australia. 

Dada’s time in Japan was a period of intense spiritual searching which led him eventually to Ananda Marga and the practice of meditation. Ananda Marga integrates yoga and meditation with social service through a network of international projects including schools, children’s homes, disaster relief and development work. 

In 2011, after working in Asia, Australia and the Middle East, Dada was invited to come to Ananda Gaorii Ashram in Denmark. Located near Holbæk, Ananda Gaorii combines an ashram, farm and learning center that hosts retreats, workshops and Erasmus+ project for European youth. Ananda Gaorii functions as a hub for spirituality, community and sustainability. The population of Ananda Gaorii is mostly young volunteers who come to experience living in community, developing their spiritual practice and learning more about growing food and living sustainably. Ananda Gaorii hosts regular workshops and retreats about spirituality, health, alternative economy, Permaculture, and other progressive themes.

Dada’s work is focused on maintaining a good community and spiritual flow at Ananda Gaorii, planning and hosting workshops, making Ananda Gaorii more sustainable and looking after the spiritual growth of the young volunteers who come to Ananda Gaorii to learn about yoga and meditation. Observing how the health and happiness of young volunteers gradually improves as they explore the yoga lifestyle, Dada became inspired to work with other youth organisations to develop a a holistic approach to youth mental health that integrates modern western therapies, yoga and meditation and positive engagement with the social and environmental challenges the world is going through.
